Forty-five Poles to vie for medals at track-and-field worlds in Eugene

Poland has selected a team of 45 athletes for the 2022 World Athletics Championships, which begin in Eugene in the US state of Oregon on Friday.

Team Poland is headed by Olympic hammer throw champion Wojciech Nowicki and four-time world champion Paweł Fajdek.

Other standout entrants include race walker Dawid Tomala400m runners Justyna Święty-Ersetic and Natalia Kaczmarek, 800m runner Patryk Dobek, sprinter Ewa Swoboda, and javelin thrower Maria Andrejczyk.

Some other Polish names to watch during the championships include Damian Czykier in the men's 110 hurdles, Pia Skrzyszowska in the women's 100 hurdles, Piotr Lisek in the men's pole vault, and Konrad Bukowiecki and Michał Haratyk in the shot put.

Fans will also be keeping an eye on Adrianna Sułek, who won the silver in the women’s pentathlon at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia in March.

The 2022 World Athletics Championships will run until July 24.
