The news was posted by Andrejczyk herself on her social media on Friday.

"Unfortunately, my body has completely stopped listening to me and I am no longer able to do something about it so I am cancelling tomorrow's start as well as the rest of the season," Andrejczyk wrote.

The 26-year-old will miss her home Diamond League event in Chorzow, southern Poland, on Saturday as well as the European Championships, which are set to start on August 15.

Holder of the javelin throw national record (71.40m ), Andrejczyk decided to change her coach in the spring. However, due to health problems, she did not return to top form.

At the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, USA she scored only 55.47m to end up in 21st place in the preliminaries with no chance of qualifying to the finals. After the disappointing performance she said she had been unable to train regularly this year due to a tear in her shoulder joint.

Her best result of the season, 57.53m, was achieved at the championships in the northwestern Polish town of Suwałki.

Andrejczyk earlier said she had not decided whether to have more surgery as she feared it could end her career.
