The 21-year-old Pole eased past the Spanish qualifier 6-0, 6-1 in their third-round encounter at Melbourne Park on Friday.

The Polish star next takes on Kazakhstan's world No. 25 Elena Rybakina for a place in the quarterfinals.

Świątek, who is coached by countryman Tomasz Wiktorowski, reached the semifinals of the women’s singles at last year's Australian Open.

Meanwhile, Poland’s world No. 45 Magda Linette is set to play Russia's Ekaterina Alexandrova in the third round in Melbourne.

On the men's side, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz will face Canada's Denis Shapovalov in the third round later on Friday.

The 2023 Australian Open runs until January 29.
