The 30-year-old rider’s runner-up finish on Saturday was enough to secure his fourth straight championship, keeping him ahead of Australia’s Brady Kurtz in the overall standings.
"This is an incredible moment for me," Zmarzlik told reporters. “When I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a world champion one day. Now I’m 30 and have six world titles. It’s unbelievable.”
Zmarzlik captured his first world title in 2019, becoming the third Pole to achieve the feat after Jerzy Szczakiel in 1973 and Tomasz Gollob in 2010.
Speedway has a massive fan base in Poland, and Zmarzlik was voted the country’s fifth-best athlete of 2024 in a nationwide poll.
He ranked behind Olympic speed climbing champion Aleksandra Mirosław, track-and-field athlete Natalia Bukowiecka (née Kaczmarek), volleyball star Wilfredo Leon and tennis ace Iga Świątek.
