Fans had been hoping for a second Polish ski-jumping medal at the Beijing 2022 Olympics, but the team of Piotr Żyła, Paweł Wąsek, Dawid Kubacki and Kamil Stoch failed to live up to those expectations.
The Poles performed below their usual standards, earning a total of 880.1 points from eight jumps.
Winners Austria earned 942.7 points, while Slovenia took the silver with 934.4 at the Zhangjiakou Olympic venue.
Germany grabbed the bronze with 922.9 points.
Norway and Japan also outperformed the Poles, coming in fourth and fifth respectively.
Poland's Kubacki on February 6 grabbed the bronze in the men's normal hill individual event, winning his country's first and so far only medal at the Beijing Olympics.
Ahead of the Games, Polish officials named ski jumping as Poland’s biggest chance of Olympic medals in China.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games run until February 20.
Poland won two medals at the previous winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, finishing 20th in the medals table.
The country scooped six medals, four gold, one silver and one bronze, during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, the best Olympic Winter Games tally for Poland ever.
Four years earlier in Vancouver, Canada, Poland also scooped up six medals: one gold, three silver and two bronze.
