Igor Pieprzyca, born October 8, 2008, entered the pitch as a substitute for Puszcza Niepołomice in the stoppage time of their Friday's Ekstraklasa away game against Korona Kielce.

Being just 15 years and 19 days old on the day, Pieprzyca became the youngest debutant in the history of Poland's top tier football, going on since 1927 and currently known as PKO Ekstraklasa. In May 2023, Jędrzej Hanuszczak of Warta Poznań made his Ekstraklasa debut at the age of 15 years and 60 days - which let him jump to the top of the list of the youngest debutants in the 21st century back then. Still, taking the whole history of the league into account, Janusz Sroka played his first top-tier match at a younger age (15 years and 57 days) back in 1969.

Now, Pieprzyca overtook both of them.

Despite his late entry onto the field, the debutant managed to get into the referee's notebook, earning a yellow card for his vicious tackle - showing that he's certainly not afraid to challenge the rivals twice his age.

The young midfielder was born and raised in Niepołomice, and has been training for the home team Puszcza for several years now. A fly in the ointment here is that - accidentally - the new record holder is also the son of the chairman of the board of the club he plays for. But this had nothing to do with the fact that out of all the young players of Puszcza he in particular got the chance of a top-level debut at such a young age.

Right?
