Damian Żurek claimed victory in the men’s 500 metres event on Sunday, setting a new track record of 34.06 seconds, while fellow Pole Marek Kania finished third.
The result underlined Poland’s strength in the sprint events, despite overall World Cup honours going to American Jordan Stolz in the men’s competition.
In the Sunday women’s 500 metres, Kaja Ziomek-Nogal continued her strong season by taking gold in 37.25 seconds, finishing ahead of Germany’s Sophie Warmuth and Dutch skater Marrit Fledderus.
Ziomek-Nogal concluded the season in second place in the overall World Cup rankings.
