Curtain up for Polish film fest

Nineteen Polish productions are vying for awards in the main competition of the Polish Film Festival held in the coastal city of Gdynia.

The films, which are set to compete for the festival’s top Golden Lions award and a host of other prizes, include 13 national premieres, among them four directorial debuts.

The annual Polish Film Festival, first held in 1974, is one of the oldest film events in Europe.

The 44th Polish Film Festival is being held in Gdynia from September 16 to 21. Danuta Isler spoke to the festival’s director, Leszek Kopeć
