The film, which tells the story of a young man who witnesses the fatal beating of his friend by the communist police in 1980s Warsaw, was earlier this month picked as Poland’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2022 Academy Awards.
Leave No Traces is based on real-life events surrounding Grzegorz Przemyk, a Warsaw high school student who was beaten to death by communist police in May 1983, during martial law imposed by the authorities to crush the Solidarity freedom movement.
The film, co-produced by France and the Czech Republic, had its world premiere at the International Film Festival in Venice on September 9.

Leave No Traces is competing for the top Golden Lions award at the 46th Polish Film Festival under way in the coastal city of Gdynia.
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hand out the Oscar awards on March 27.
