The Melchior Prize is an annual accolade awarded by public broadcaster Polish Radio for best radio reportage and documentary journalism, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

There is also a third category, Best Inspiration, for outstanding achievements in TV reportage and documentary work that may serve as inspiration and a model to emulate for radio reporters.

Awarded since 2005, the Melchior Prize honours Poland’s public-media journalists, taking its name from the 20th-century writer and reporter Melchior Wańkowicz, officials said.
