The Chopin Marathon event consists of 11 concerts lasting a total of 29 hours and featuring 84 pianists from the age of six to 94, both well-established names and music school students.

In addition to Polish pianists, performers from Ukraine, Germany and Japan will also take part.

The intervals will be filled with talks about Chopin’s life and work, readings of selections of his letters and profiles of some of the performing pianists.

The Chopin Marathon marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of the broadcaster’s Polish Radio Chopin station, as well as the 104th anniversary of Poland regaining independence.

The event will also see the start of a fundraising campaign for Ukrainian schools and those who have suffered as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
