Young Polish violinist in charity concert for Ukraine

Up-and-coming Polish violinist Sara Dragan will give a charity concert in support of Ukraine at Warsaw’s Nowa Miodowa Hall on Sunday.

The motto of the event is “With a Hope for Peace."

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to buy medical equipment for an ambulance used in the evacuation of Ukrainians wounded by Russian forces in the ongoing war.

The programme of the concert includes works by Paganini, Brahms, Ravel as well as Chopin’s Nocturne in C Sharp Minor in Milstein’s arrangement for violin and piano.

Sławomir Cierpik is the accompanist.

Sara Dragan, 23, studied with Zakhar Bron at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid. She is currently continuing her education at the Zakhar Bron Academy in Interlaken, Switzerland, and the Music Academy in the southwestern Polish city of Wrocław.

She has won many music competitions in Poland and abroad, including the International Artists Association Competition in New York and has appeared in prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic and New York’s Carnegie Hall.

She plays a Nicola Amati violin, dating from 1666, courtesy of the Florian Leonhard Fine Violins workshop in London.
