Officials unveiled the digitisation project at a conference in Warsaw on Friday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Under the three-year initiative, called Hereditas, the National Museum has made 6k Resolution pictures of some 44,000 artefacts from its catalogue, according to officials.
There are digital images of paintings, drawings and sculptures, as well as of photographs, coins and goldsmithery, the PAP news agency reported.
The National Museum's artefacts represent Polish art, as well as foreign cultural heritage, including Oriental, Eastern Christian and Ancient art, officials told reporters.
The project to further digitise the museum's collection was worth some PLN 20 million (EUR 4.6 million), the PAP news agency reported.
Funding was provided by the European Union and the Polish ministry of culture, according to officials.
The National Museum in Warsaw has now digitised over 100,000 artefacts from its collection, which are available for everyone to enjoy on a dedicated website.
