The New York Polish Film Festival, now in its 20th year, will take place from May 27 to May 31, offering a diverse lineup of movies, in addition to meetings with filmmakers, according to its organisers.
Over the past two decades, the event has brought a variety of films to thousands of viewers in the New York metropolitan area, both in movie theatres and online, the Polish Institute in New York has said.
This year's festival offers a selection of new Polish films, in addition to six iconic movies by Oscar-winning Polish director Andrzej Wajda: Ashes and Diamonds, Canal, The Promised Land, Everything for Sale, Man of Iron, and Katyn.
The festival aims to honor Wajda’s legacy and mark 25 years since he won an Honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement.
Films will be screened at the Scandinavia House and the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Theater in midtown Manhattan.
Wajda, who won the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2000, died on October 9, 2016 at the age of 90.
