“The Polish Institute in Kyiv has prepared ten events within the 13th International Book Arsenal Festival.
Polish writers came to Ukraine’s capital even in this brutal wartime,” institute director Jarosław Godun told Polish Press Agency, calling the visit “a testimony of support for the Ukrainian nation.”
Guests include essayist Krzysztof Czyżewski, historian Andrzej Nowak and reporter Paweł Reszka.
Alongside panel discussions and readings, the institute is showing a poster exhibition titled “Poems in the Metro,” featuring verse in Ukrainian translation from eight European countries plus a poem by Ukrainian writer and volunteer Viktoria Amelina, killed in a 2023 Russian missile strike on Kramatorsk.
The posters will appear in June on metro stations in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro under a project launched by the Polish Institute and the EUNIC cultural cluster during Poland’s EU Council presidency.
Book Arsenal, one of Ukraine’s largest literary fairs, runs through Sunday.
