Held under the motto "Ciao Italia," the event includes attractions such as pizza workshops, tasting of Italian cocktails, meetings with authors of Italian travel books and a dancing party in Italo Funky House style.

Other highlights include a talk on masterpieces of Italian painting and Italian children’s tales.

Sports enthusiasts will be able to revisit the emotions of the Poland-Italy football match at the 1974 World Cup that ended in Poland's sensational 2-1 victory.

Łukasz Słotwiński, one of the initiators of Ciao Italia, told the media that the event celebrates Poland's historical links with Italy.

He said the late-Renaissance Orsetti and Attavanti Houses in the town’s market square owe their names to Wilhelm Orsetti and Giulio Attavanti, Italian merchants who owned them in the 17th century. The buildings are now home to a local museum and the town’s Culture and Promotion Centre.

The organizers aim to make Ciao Italia an annual event.

Agnieszka Lech of the Culture and Promotion Centre told Poland's PAP news agency that "the idea is to give the city’s old quarter a more positive image, turning it into a space for meetings, leisure and enjoyment with family and friends."
