Tamara Łempicka’s La Belle Rafaëla, a 1927 portrait of her lover, claimed the No. 2 spot, fetching around USD 10 million at a Sotheby’s sale in London.

Łempicka, who died in 1980 aged 82, is celebrated for her Art Deco portraits and nudes.

Jacek Malczewski’s 1908 painting Reality, which sold for USD 6.2 million at Warsaw’s Desa Unicum Auction House, also made the top 10, placing ninth.

Malczewski (1854–1929) was a leading figure in the Young Poland modernist movement in Polish art, which spanned the period from 1890 to 1918.

The top-selling lot in June was Grand Rhinocrétaire II by French artist François-Xavier Lalanne, which went for USD 16.4 million, nearly four times its pre-sale estimate.

Other artists featured in the Artnet list include Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Paul Signac, Jenny Saville, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
