This year's 27th Simcha Jewish Culture Festival featured concerts, workshops, panel discussions, film screenings, exhibitions and guided tours of the city’s Jewish heritage sites.

The event, which ran from July 19 to 25, also included Hebrew and Yiddish language classes, a Jewish fair and traditional dance workshops.

The University of Wrocław’s Department of Jewish Studies also opened its doors to the public during the festival, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Organizers describe Simcha—Hebrew for "joy"—as a chance to experience Jewish culture firsthand and learn about its traditions, aiming to break down stereotypes and promote respect for cultural diversity.

First held in 1999, the Wrocław festival is one of several Jewish cultural events in Poland.

Among the best known is the annual Jewish Culture Festival in the southern city of Kraków, founded in 1988 and held each June.

The eastern city of Lublin is set to host its own celebration from August 5 to 10, while the capital Warsaw will hold a similar event from August 23 to 31, according to an announcement.
