A specially arranged "musical train" will depart from the southern city of Kraków, home to the publisher’s headquarters, on Sunday, December 21, and travel nearly 10 hours to Gdańsk on the Baltic coast.

The train will make four stops along the route, including in the central city of Łódź, the capital Warsaw and the northern town of Malbork.

During the stopovers, live performances will be staged on station platforms by the Motion Trio and Tubicinatores Gedanenses, a Baroque trumpet ensemble, organisers said.

The train will consist of six carriages named after prominent Polish composers: Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Henryk Wieniawski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Wojciech Kilar and Witold Lutosławski. Each carriage will offer themed activities for passengers.

The Lutosławski carriage will host live performances en route by the Silesian Quartet, the Royal String Quartet, the ProModern Ensemble, as well as duos, soloists and DJs, including Polish Radio journalists Jacek Hawryluk and Bartek Chaciński.

The Bacewicz carriage will serve as a mobile studio for Polish Radio 2, the public broadcaster's music-and-arts station, featuring interviews with composers, music critics and performers.

The Chopin carriage will provide a space for relaxation, reading and listening to music, while the Szymanowski carriage will host discussions with journalists from Ruch Muzyczny, Poland’s oldest music magazine.

The Wieniawski carriage will offer music-inspired cuisine.

The journey will conclude with a final concert at St. John's Centre in Gdańsk, combining modern jazz with 15th-century polyphony.

Performers will include jazz violinist Adam Bałdych and Switzerland-based Ensemble Peregrina, led by Polish singer Agnieszka Budzińska-Bennett.
