The ceremony, delayed from last year due to the pandemic, is to be held as a virtual event, hosted by classical music radio and television broadcaster Petroc Trelawny.
Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński is shortlisted in the "recording – solo recital" category for his latest CD, Facce d’amore (Faces of Love). Released on the Erato label, the recording features a selection of Baroque operatic arias. Thirty-one-year-old Orliński is among the world’s most sought-after countertenors.
Two recordings of operas by Stanisław Moniuszko, the father of Polish national opera, are also on the list of nominees. A CD featuring Halka, performed by Europa Gallante under Fabio Biondi and produced by the National Chopin Institute, is nominated in the "recording – complete opera" category, while the composer’s Paria, in a recording by the Grand Opera in Poznań, is nominated in the "rediscovered work" category.
Composer Dariusz Przybylski, 36, has been nominated in the "newcomer" category, and set and costume designer Małgorzata Szcześniak in the designer category for her work on Przybylski’s opera Anhelli, produced by the Grand Opera in Poznań.
