The Hollywood star will be the top speaker at the prestigious Impact’23 event on Thursday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
At 10:35 a.m., Portman will be a guest of “A Fireside Chat” moderated by CNN journalist Rahel Solomon, according to organisers.
Then at 11 a.m., the actress will take part in a panel discussion entitled How to Open Minds, Move Hearts & Change the World, the PAP news agency reported.
Portman’s co-panelists will include Raja Rajamannar, a senior executive at Mastercard, Kasia Kieli, president and managing director of Warner Bros. Discovery Poland, and Miron Mironiuk, founder and CEO of the tech company Cosmose AI, organisers announced.
Portman, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for 2010’s Black Swan, is a campaigner for causes such as women’s empowerment, equal labour market opportunities for men and women, animal rights and promotion of readership, the PAP news agency reported.
The Hollywood actress has a degree in psychology from Harvard University and is the author of the picture book Natalie Portman’s Fables, which is a New York Times bestseller.
Last month, Natalie Portman’s Fables was published in Poland, translated by Michał Rusinek, with all proceeds set to go to children and youth mental health services in Poland, the PAP news agency reported.
Portman’s Jewish great-grandfather was born near the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszów, news outlets noted.
Portman first caught the attention of movie fans as a teenager with her role in 1994’s Léon: The Professional, and her other credits include 2015’s A Tale of Love and Darkness, which she also wrote and directed, and her multi-nominated turn as former US First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 2016’s Jackie, the organisers said.
Impact’23 conference
The annual Impact conference in Poznań is billed as the most prestigious economic and technological event in Central and Eastern Europe.
It brings together top global executives, policy makers and regulators, as well as world-renowned scientists, experts and speakers, according to organisers.
Impact’23 takes place over two days, beginning on Wednesday, with guest speakers including Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, IBM’s Chair and General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Ana Paula De Jesus Assis, and the philosopher Nassim Nicholas Taleb, reporters were told.
