An international jury of critics and experts praised the Polish singer for his CD Farewells, which he recorded last year with pianist Michał Biel for the Warner Music Group.

The album includes 26 songs by Polish composers Stanisław Moniuszko, Karol Szymanowski, Mieczysław Karłowicz and Paweł Łukaszewski.

The nominees in the Male Singer of the Year category included Benjamin Bernheim, Freddie De Tommaso, Matthias Goerne, Philippe Jaroussky, Jonas Kaufmann, Michael Spyres, Jonathan Tetelman, and Poland’s Tomasz Konieczny.

The awards ceremony will take place in Berlin’s Konzerthaus on October 8.

Orliński has previously received Opus Klassik Awards for his recordings of Handel’s Rodelinda and Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater.

Orliński’s upcoming engagements include a new production of Handel’s Semele at the Bayerische Staatsoper on July 15-25, and the Bach Festival in Świdnica, southwestern Poland, on July 28.
