The programme of the concert, which is repeated on Saturday, includes the overture to The Legend of the Baltic Sea, an opera by Polish composer Feliks Nowowiejski (1877-1946).

The work is described by the Philadelphia Orchestra on its website as “brilliant” and “reminiscent of 20th-century Hollywood film scores”.

The programme also features the Pipa Concerto No. 2 by Chinese composer Zhao Jiping, with Wu Man as the soloist, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.

Born in Kraków in 1995, Anna Sułkowska-Migoń won First Prize at the La Maestra conducting competition in Paris in 2022. Since then she has appeared regularly with all the leading Polish orchestras. Last year she was awarded the Neeme Järvi Prize at the Gstaad Conducting Academy in Switzerland.
