“Today we say goodbye to our colleague, Kasia Stoparczyk. Kasia was a voice of sensitivity and openness, particularly towards young people, to whom she dedicated her programmes and her heart,” said the editorial team of Program III of Polish Radio, the national broadcaster with which she worked for many years.
“Her way of speaking, listening, and asking questions will remain in our memory forever. She left behind broadcasts that offered many listeners a space of closeness, honesty, and extraordinary encounters.”
Trained as a classical guitarist, Stoparczyk graduated from the Wrocław Academy of Music. She became widely known as co-host of the children’s television programme Duże dzieci on public TV, which brought her recognition across Poland.
Children’s therapy workshop to commemorate Stoparczyk’s legacy
Thanks to support from online donors contributing to a campaign run by the Wrocław Foundation for Children’s Hospice, the Katarzyna Stoparczyk Psychological and Therapeutic Workshop for Children and Adolescents will be established in her memory, continuing the mission she championed throughout her career.
“The idea came within seconds of learning that Kasia’s family had decided to launch a fundraiser for our foundation,” said Beata Hernik-Janiszewska, the foundation’s president, in an interview with Program III of Polish Radio.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Jacek, Freta 10, in Warsaw, with a private burial for close family members to follow.
Stoparczyk died in a car accident on 5 September 2025 near the village of Jeżowe in the Podkarpackie region of southeastern Poland, on the S19 expressway towards Rzeszów.
She was travelling from a festival in Stalowa Wola to the Women’s Congress in Katowice. Stoparczyk was killed instantly, along with a 57-year-old man in the other vehicle, while both drivers were hospitalised.
