The Polish Center for International Aid (PCPM) has started raising funds to buy food for Ethiopian families facing hunger due to COVID-19 restrictions and an impending locust plague, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Even before the coronavirus pandemic swept across the world, malnutrition was responsible for about one-third of child deaths in Ethiopia, according to the news agency.

Donations are being accepted online at pcpm.org.pl.

The Polish Center for International Aid is a government-supported humanitarian organisation that provides assistance to people in need around the world.

Since it was established in 2006, the organisation has carried out projects in countries including Lebanon, Uganda, Kenya and Burkina Faso.
