Over 28.6 million COVID-19 shots administered in Poland: gov't data

A total of 28,601,320 COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered in Poland so far, including 141,016 over the last 24 hours, officials announced on Tuesday.

Public health authorities said that 12,245 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 25,956 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of Tuesday, Poland had injected over 16.7 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while more than 12.8 million people had been fully inoculated, health ministry data showed.

The tally includes two-dose vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca as well as Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Children aged 12 to 15 have been given the green light to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in Poland as the country ramps up its inoculation campaign.

Poland on Tuesday reported 123 new coronavirus infections and 26 more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,879,811 and fatalities to 75,005.
