While in Warsaw on Thursday, Chollet met with the Polish government's representative for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, Piotr Naimski, to discuss "the energy security of Poland and the region as well as climate change issues," according to the US embassy in Warsaw.
The embassy's chargé d’affaires, Bix Aliu, said in a Twitter post after the meeting that "the energy security of Poland is one of the key priorities" of Polish-US relations.
'We share Poland’s concerns about Nord Stream 2'
"We support Poland in its pursuit of diversification of energy sources, and we share Poland’s concerns about Nord Stream 2," Aliu said, referring to the controversial Russia-Germany gas pipeline vehemently opposed by Poland.
"We are committed to making sure that Russia never uses energy as a weapon again," he added.
The Polish and Ukrainian foreign ministers this week called on the United States and Germany to address what they described as a security crisis in their region after Washington and Berlin announced a deal over the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
'Shared commitment to democratic values'
During his visit to Warsaw, Chollet sat down with Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz to discuss priorities in Polish-US relations, "including security in the region and our shared commitment to democratic values and institutions," the US embassy said.
Chollet also held talks with Polish Senate Speaker Tomasz Grodzki "to discuss the solid foundation and the future of Polish-American relations," the US embassy tweeted.
Announcing Chollet's visit earlier this week, the US State Department said the trip would aim to "reinforce the strategic value of the United States’ relationships" with Poland and Ukraine.
Chollet, who is a foreign policy advisor to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, visited Ukrainian capital Kiev on Tuesday and Wednesday before arriving in Warsaw for a three-day visit.
'Fair, transparent and predictable business environment'
While in the Polish capital, Chollet also met with executives from American companies active in Poland.
Among the topics discussed was "the need for foreign investors to count on a fair, transparent and predictable business environment," the US embassy said.
Aliu tweeted after the event that Polish-US business cooperation is growing and that US investment contributes to 4.4 percent of Poland's GDP.
Almost 1,500 US companies in Poland employ 290,000 people, according to Aliu.
"We are stronger together," he wrote.
