Organised by dissident activist Stasia Glinnik under the motto "Lukashenko has crossed the line," the rally was held outside the Belarusian embassy in Warsaw on Sunday, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

Glinnik told the Polish state news agency that Lukashenko was "single-handedly responsible" for the migrant crisis on the Polish-Belarusian frontier.

The protest was directed at Lukashenko's rule in general. "In Belarus, Lukashenko is regarded as an occupier who has rigged the presidential elections and is unlawfully acting as the head of state," Glinnik said.

She added that the Belarusian strongman leader "is being protected by Russian President Vladimir Putin and so he is doing whatever he wants, without regard for anyone or anything else."

Glinnik also said the rally sought to persuade Belarusian regime officials "to drop their loyalty to the dictator, take the side of the nation and stop using the language of war."

Protestors of all ages waved white-red-and-white flags as well as banners with Belarusian and Polish-language slogans, such as "Free Belarus" and "Down with the Tyrant Lukashenko," while activist Jana Shostak staged a scream protest against the regime, PAP reported.

Lukashenko denies creating the migrant crisis in retaliation for Western sanctions, which were imposed after his widely discredited 2020 re-election and the subsequent brutal crackdown on the opposition at home.
