Ukrainian president tops list of most trusted foreign politicians in Poland

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is the most trusted foreign politician in Poland, with 86 percent of respondents saying they have confidence in him, a poll has found.

US President Joe Biden came second on 74 percent, while outgoing UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was third with 55 percent, according to the survey by pollster CBOS.

Meanwhile, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is trusted by 46 percent of Poles, while 20 percent distrust her, Polish state news agency PAP reported on Thursday.

Putin most distrusted 

At the other end of the scale, Russian President Vladimir Putin is distrusted by 94 percent of Poles, while Belarusian strongman leader Alexander Lukashenko is distrusted by 87 percent of respondents. 

In addition, half of those polled distrust Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the pollster said.   

Meanwhile, France’s President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz are treated with distrust by 39 percent and 38 percent of Poles respectively, the PAP news agency reported. 

At the same time, 27 percent of those asked said they trusted Macron, while 17 percent trusted Scholz. 

The survey was carried out from June 27 to July 7 on a representative sample of 1,084 adult residents of Poland.
