Political analyst Ivan Preobrazhensky, who emigrated from Russia following the invasion of Ukraine, has played down the significance of the assasination of Daria Dugina.
Killed in a car-bomb attack near Moscow, she was the daughter of Alexander Dugina, Putin's far-right advisor. The latter's presence in Putin's inner circle has strengthened claims that Russia has become a fascist state.
Preobrazhensky told the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that official Russian policy is to make a martyr of Daria Dugina, something along the lines of a Russian "Joan of Arc".
The analyst suggests this will not be convincing for Russians, mainly because Daria Drugina was not a well-known figure in Russia. "People only found out who she was when she died," he said.
