Lukashenko has made a statement admitting Belarus' involvement in the war against Ukraine.

On the one hand he said that, "Belarus is not sending any soldiers to Ukraine," and that, "We are not killing anyone." He added that Belarus wishes to abide by its international commitments and is involved only to limit the scope of the conflict.

On the other hand, he claimed that Ukraine "provoked" Russia and threatened that "Russia will strengthen its actions in the special operation."

Commentators noted that Lukashenko persists in using Russia's propaganda term "special operation".

He repeated his claim that "Belarus does not need to announce mobilisation."
