Poland, UK team up to help Ukraine refugees

Poland and Britain have agreed to provide more humanitarian aid to Ukraine as it fights Russia's invasion, officials have said.

Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz and Britain's Deputy Head of Mission in Warsaw, Jennifer MacNaughtan, last week signed a memorandum to provide further support to Ukraine, the Polish foreign ministry announced.

Under the agreement, Britain will donate £10 million to Solidarity Forum Poland, a Polish foundation that aims to support Ukraine, according to the Polish foreign ministry. 

The foundation plans to spend the funds on humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees in Poland, officials said.

Poland's top diplomat Zbigniew Rau and Britain's Foreign Secretary James Cleverly last week spoke on the phone to discuss joint efforts to support Ukraine, according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.

Monday is day 243 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
