Poland's Zbigniew Rau and Japan's Fumio Kishida spoke about Russia's aggression against Ukraine and agreed that their countries would join forces to help put an end to Russian aggression as soon as possible, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The Japanese prime minister applauded Poland's role in providing wide-ranging assistance to Ukraine, according to officials.
During the meeting, Rau and Kishida reaffirmed plans for joint action to help rebuild Ukraine from the war, news outlets reported.
The Polish foreign ministry said in a tweet that the two talked about "the further development of Polish-Japanese political relations, cooperation in trade and investment as well as current security issues in Europe."
A day earlier, Rau met with Japan's top diplomat Yoshimasa Hayashi in Tokyo to discuss Russia's war against Ukraine and a range of bilateral issues, according to officials.
The Polish foreign ministry said that Rau's visit to Japan this week aimed to "emphasise the special importance" of bilateral relations, "which were elevated to strategic partnership in 2015."
Japan's Kishida in March held talks with top Polish officials in Warsaw about the war in Ukraine, international security and bilateral economic cooperation, according to reports at the time.
Friday is day 443 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
