In all, Russia launched 42 UAVs against Ukraine during the night, mostly targeting the Odesa region, and Ukraine's air defences shot down 41 of them, the air force in Kyiv said.

'No Russian victories in 2023': Ukraine's Zelensky

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russia's invading army has recorded "no victories" in 2023, the US-based Institute for the Study of War reported.

Zelensky was speaking at the Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit in Oslo, Norway, on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian leader added that his country's forces had switched to defensive operations due to winter weather and that the main goal remained to "hold and destroy the Russian military in Ukraine."

Thursday is day 659 of Russia's war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
