The Operational Command of Poland's Armed Forces said in a statement that "all necessary procedures have been initiated" to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.
It added that it was "monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis."
The statement also said that Polish and allied aircraft were activated early on Monday, with the Operational Command taking steps to ensure safety in areas near the Ukrainian border.
The alert was in effect until around 7 a.m., when the Operational Command noted a decreased threat of Russian strikes on Ukrainian regions bordering Poland.
The Operational Command reported no violations of Polish airspace during the Russian air strikes on Ukraine.
Russia launched a fresh wave of missile and drone strikes on Ukraine overnight into Monday, targeting various regions across the country, according to officials.
In the capital Kyiv, eight residents of an apartment building were wounded as a result of the strikes, including a three-year-old child, authorities said.
Ukraine's air force said Russia had launched 324 drones and seven missiles overnight, and that their main target was Starokostyantyniv in western Ukraine, home to a major air base, the Reuters news agency reported.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Monday is day 1,251 of the war.
