Russian aircraft and missiles battered Ukraine during the night, hitting 73 towns and villages, Ukrainian authorities said.

A guided‑bomb attack on a penal colony in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region killed at least 16 inmates and injured 35 more, according to the president’s office.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called the raid “deliberate, intentional and not accidental,” adding on social media that Russia must be forced “to stop killing and make peace.”

In the central Dnipropetrovsk region, rockets struck the city of Kamianske, damaging residential blocks and a hospital. Two people were killed and five wounded, including a pregnant woman in critical condition, regional officials said.

The head of the Ukrainian president’s office said the assaults constituted yet another Russian war crime and that Moscow could be stopped only by military force and heavier sanctions.
