The agreement, signed at Villacoublay Air Base southwest of Paris during Zelensky’s official visit, outlines a potential ten-year framework for Ukraine to acquire French military equipment.

In addition to the Rafale jets and their armaments, the letter covers next-generation SAMP-T air defence systems, radar systems, and drones.

“This will be the largest air defence system in the world,” Zelensky told journalists after the signing. Macron posted a photo of the signing on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption: “A great day.”

Prior to signing, the two leaders attended a briefing with representatives of the French defence industry, reviewing capabilities of the Rafale jets and the new-generation air defence systems.

Zelensky is also scheduled to visit the headquarters of international forces that could be deployed to Ukraine under the “coalition of the willing” if a ceasefire is reached.
