Polish member of the European Parliament Michał Kobosko said Thursday he will be part of a four-member delegation from the liberal Renew Europe group that will travel to Washington from Monday to Wednesday.

He told Poland’s PAP news agency the lawmakers will hold talks at the U.S. State Department, in Congress with both Republicans and Democrats, and at several leading think tanks linked to each party.

Kobosko said the main topic would be Trump’s proposed peace plan for Ukraine, with broader U.S.-EU relations as a second key issue.

He said the delegation was traveling “concerned” about the so-called 28-point peace plan, which he said was drafted in Moscow, not Washington, and remains a reference point in current discussions about ending the war.

“This is an extremely dangerous plan, not only for Ukraine, but also for Poland and Europe,” Kobosko said.

He added that he would be the only Pole and the only representative from Eastern Europe in the mission, and said it was important that “the Polish voice” be heard in Washington because few nations know Russia and its methods as well as Poles.

Kobosko said there were sometimes complaints that Poland was absent from the negotiating table, and criticized what he called the “very limited activity” of President Karol Nawrocki in the current situation.

On U.S.-EU ties, he pointed to disputes over trade, tariffs and the digital market, and called some U.S. demands “surprising,” including proposals to exclude American technology companies operating in Europe from EU regulations.

He said the talks in Washington “will not necessarily be pleasant” given the current tensions between the United States and Europe, but argued the timing of the visit was crucial, as the coming days could shape Ukraine’s future and Europe’s security.
