The hub is expected to begin operations in January, Polish state news agency PAP reported on Monday.
Romania would become the second country after Poland to host a major logistics centre for military assistance to Ukraine.
Officials said the Romanian hub is intended to ease pressure on Poland’s Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, which has served as the primary gateway for arms deliveries since February 2022, and to streamline shipments to Ukraine's eastern Donbas region and its southern regions.
Gen. Mark Keller, deputy commander of NATO’s Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU) mission, said on Sunday that in 2025 military aid to Ukraine was transported using about 9,000 trucks, 1,800 railway cars and roughly 500 flights by strategic transport aircraft.
NATO officials say air defence systems, artillery and electronic warfare equipment remain among Ukraine’s most urgent military needs.
Since the start of the war, most Western weapons and equipment destined for Ukraine have transited through Poland, particularly via Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, a key logistics hub near the Ukrainian border.
