Støre was speaking after talks with his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney in Ottawa on Sunday.

Asked at a joint news conference about Tusk's remarksStøre said Norwegian intelligence assessed there were "real threats" from hybrid activity, including potential sabotage, according to the Canadian Press news agency.

Tusk said on Thursday that a stepped-up Russian offensive in Ukraine was expected in the coming weeks, including near the Polish border.

He added that, according to intelligence services, "accidental" drone and missile strikes on countries supporting Ukraine were also possible.

Carney said he agreed with Støre.

He added that Canada's aim of expanding international relations, including with Norway, was part of its response to Russian threats, with closer intelligence sharing.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine backed by security guarantees.

Canada, Norway and Ukraine will host a second international conference in Toronto at the end of September focusing on the return of Ukrainian children, detained civilians and prisoners of war.

Sunday's talks also covered Arctic security, defence, space, critical minerals, new technologies and climate.
