Trump briefs European leaders after Alaska meeting with Putin

US President Donald Trump held a phone call with several European leaders on Saturday to brief them on his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, officials said.

European Commission spokeswoman Arianna Podesta confirmed that Trump spoke with Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, among others, following Friday’s summit with Putin.

According to the Elysee Palace, French President Emmanuel Macron also joined the hour-long call, alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. European Council President Antonio Costa also took part.

Trump was accompanied on the US. side by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his special envoy Steve Witkoff.

The teleconference was followed by a separate European leaders’ consultation later on Saturday, which included the same participants as well as former European Council President Donald Tusk, European officials said.

US President Donald Trump held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Alaska on Friday, officials said.

Trump and Putin described their meeting as "productive" but did not provide specific agreements following the discussions

Both leaders issued statements but declined to take questions from reporters. Trump noted that while he and Putin agreed on many issues, several key matters remained unresolved.
