Sikorski, representing Prime Minister Donald Tusk, participated in the two-hour video call with other leaders and heads of government. The discussion focused on aligning actions ahead of key decisions related to Ukraine, including upcoming talks on using frozen Russian assets to fund continued support for Kyiv.
“There is a need for unity and coordinated action,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maciej Wewiór told the Polish Press Agency (PAP), noting that the meeting also addressed ongoing negotiations about the war and peace process.
Sikorski later posted on X that “a true, lasting, and just peace” is the only solution for Ukraine, adding that “Europe holds strong cards. It’s time to play them.”
Another coalition meeting is expected soon, following France’s call for further discussions on security guarantees for Ukraine. European countries have expressed interest in revising the U.S.-proposed peace deal, which would require Ukraine to accept territorial losses in exchange for unspecified American security assurances.
