The Polish diplomat said that Ukraine will not accept any agreements that could compromise its sovereignty. He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin still seeks to subordinate Ukraine, a move Kyiv cannot accept.
Bosacki also noted that the negotiation process is ongoing.
“It is clear that the process continues. That is a good thing. It has not been broken off. Working groups have been established on both the Ukrainian and American sides to clarify unresolved issues. These concern security guarantees for Ukraine and the status of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia, which is on the front line. The Russians are pushing for land swaps, which Ukraine opposes and we support them in that,” he said.
The Polish deputy prime minister pointed out that “Putin does not want peace, but the subordination of Ukraine.”
Two-hour cal with Putin precedes Trump-Zelensky talks
Bosacki also noted that, before his two-hour meeting with Zelensky on Sunday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, the US president had spent two hours on the phone with Putin.
Ukraine requests longer US security guarantees
Ukraine's Zelensky said on Monday that a draft framework for peace aimed at ending the war with Russia includes US security guarantees for Ukraine for a period of 15 years. Kyiv, however, is seeking to extend them to 50 years.
