Zelensky told reporters that Ukraine expects the next round of negotiations to take place later this month.
He added that Kyiv hopes details of the next prisoner-of-war exchange with Russia will be agreed in the coming days.
He said progress had been made during talks in Geneva on monitoring a potential ceasefire, with the United States expected to take primary responsibility.
"On the military track, specifically within the military subgroup, I believe there is constructive progress," Zelensky said.
"All three sides have acknowledged that if the war ends and a ceasefire is established, monitoring of the ceasefire will be carried out primarily by the Americans. They will take the lead in this area," he added.
However, Zelensky said positions remained far apart on political issues, including territory and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform reported.
Two days of talks among Ukrainian, US and Russian officials aimed at advancing a peace agreement ended in Geneva on Wednesday.
Ukraine's chief negotiator, Rustem Umerov, described the US-brokered talks as "intensive and substantive," saying some progress had been achieved.
Zelensky said earlier this month that the United States wants Russia and Ukraine to find a way to end the war before summer.
