Backed by the right-wing opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, Nawrocki narrowly defeated centrist Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski in Sunday's runoff vote.
He will take office after the election results are formally confirmed and constitutional procedures are completed.
Legal process before inauguration
Once the National Electoral Commission confirms the results of Poland’s June 1 presidential runoff, a 14-day period will begin during which election challenges may be filed with the Supreme Court.
If three Supreme Court judges uphold a challenge, the election could be rerun within the following three months.
If no irregularities are found, the Supreme Court must issue a resolution confirming the election’s validity.
The resolution is then submitted to the sitting president, lower-house Speaker and the National Electoral Commission, and published in the Monitor Polski official gazette.
The new president must be sworn in within seven days of the resolution’s publication in the Dziennik Ustaw journal of laws.
Under Polish law, the president-elect takes the oath of office before the National Assembly—a joint session of both houses of parliament—on the final day of the outgoing president's term.
President Andrzej Duda’s term ends on August 6. Nawrocki’s inauguration is therefore expected to take place on that day, marking the beginning of his five-year term.
