Trzaskowski wins overseas vote

Rafał Trzaskowski secured the most votes among Polish citizens abroad in the first round of the election, according to official figures.

Trzaskowski, the candidate for the centrist ruling Civic Coalition, received 36.8 percent of the overseas vote - more than 171,000 ballots.

He was followed by far-right contender Sławomir Mentzen with nearly 17 percent support (over 77,000 votes), and Karol Nawrocki, the candidate backed by the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party, who garnered just over 16 percent (around 75,000 votes).

Other candidates receiving significant support abroad included Grzegorz Braun, with nearly 11 percent, Adrian Zandberg and Magdalena Biejat, each with just over 6 percent.

Szymon Hołownia earned slightly more than 3 percent, while Joanna Senyszyn received just over 1 percent. The remaining candidates failed to reach the 1-percent mark.

Trzaskowski also led voting aboard Polish-flagged ships, ahead of Mentzen and Hołownia.
