On Monday afternoon, consultations were held at the headquarters of public broadcaster TVP on the timing of the debate, with representatives from both candidates’ campaign teams in attendance, according to reports.

The planned debate is expected to take place at 8 p.m. on May 21 at TVP’s headquarters on Woronicza Street in Warsaw.

It would be broadcast by Poland’s public television network, TVP, and major commercial news channels TVN24 and Polsat News.

Paweł Szefernaker, head of Nawrocki’s campaign, has called for a broader debate format involving journalists from multiple news outlets.

The right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) candidate has previously urged that the debate be hosted jointly by a range of broadcasters, including far-right Republika, wPolsce24, and Trwam.

Trzaskowski and Nawrocki are set to face off in the runoff election on June 1.
