The survey by pollster Kantar found that the Civic Coalition, headed by the opposition Civic Platform party, was in second place with 24 percent support.

A leftist coalition, which has no representation in the current parliament, is backed by 10 percent, the poll found.

The survey was carried out between August 9 and 14, before the official announcement of an alliance between the rural-based Polish People’s Party (PSL) and the anti-establishment Kukiz 15 grouping.

Sixty-three percent of respondents said they would take part in the parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for October 13.

Poles will elect deputies to the 460-seat lower house of parliament, and 100 members to the upper house, the Senate.
