During the meeting, Duda reaffirmed Poland's support for Chișinău in its drive to become a member of the European community.
The talks also focused on regional security and Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, Duda’s office said.
The two leaders additionally discussed last month's NATO summit in The Hague, according to the Polish President's Office.
Speaking at a joint news conference with Sandu, Duda noted that top EU officials declared at last Friday's EU-Moldova summit in Chișinău that Moldova was ready to open its first negotiation cluster.
"This is extremely important because it confirms the success of the reforms implemented by the president and the government of Moldova," Duda said.
"Congratulations are due because this reform process is taking place under very difficult conditions," he added, according to his office.
"We all know that Moldova is suffering greatly because of the war taking place in Ukraine as a result of the Russian attack. We all know how it affects the Moldovan economy. We all know that part of Moldova is the breakaway Russian-backed region of Transnistria."
"These are current problems that the Moldovan authorities have to deal with," Duda told reporters. "And despite everything, the president and the government are coping brilliantly, and the Moldovan public continues to maintain strong and decisive support for the EU accession process—for Moldova to become part of the Western community."
"We want Moldova to be a country that will one day be a fellow member of the European Union, and, I hope, of the North Atlantic Alliance as well," Duda added.
Sandu said in a post on X that she was "grateful to be hosted" in Warsaw by the Polish president.
She thanked Duda for his "steadfast support and friendship" during his two-term presidency, which ends next month.
"Moldova is proud to stand with Poland—united in our commitment to a stronger, safer Europe," she wrote.
While in Warsaw on Tuesday, Sandu was also scheduled to meet with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and attend the annual conference of Polish ambassadors as a guest of honour.
Earlier in the day, Sandu met with members of the think tank community at the Warsaw Forum to discuss "Moldova’s EU path, regional security, and the urgent need to protect our democracies," she said in a separate post.
