The ministry confirmed on Thursday that it remained in regular contact with Israeli authorities, the Israeli embassy in Warsaw, and other countries involved. A crisis management team has been established to coordinate Poland’s response.

A Polish consul travelled to the port of Ashdod, on Israel’s Mediterranean coast, where the detained activists were expected to be transferred.

The ministry said that consular support would be provided “within the limits of the law and the realities of wartime operations.”

Of the 42 vessels sailing toward Gaza, all have been intercepted by Israel.

Over 400 people have been detained, including Polish nationals – MP Franciszek Sterczewski, Omar Farris, president of the Polish Palestinian Socio-Cultural Association, Karolina “Nina” Ptak, president of the Nomada Association, and journalist and activist Ewa Jasiewicz, who also holds British citizenship.

The international Global Sumud Flotilla initiative, consisting of around 40 vessels and more than 400 volunteers from over 40 countries, was intercepted by the Israeli navy overnight from Wednesday to Thursday in international waters, approximately 80 nautical miles from the Gaza Strip.
